Fluker's High-Calcium Mealworm Diet
High-Calcium Mealworm Diet
• Veterinarian-formulated diet for gut-loading mealworms
• Establishes a positive calcium-to-phosphorus ratio
DESCRIPTION
Invertebrates, such as mealworms, do not contain sufficient amounts of calcium to satisfy your reptile's needs. Over time, a calcium deficiency can lead to poor bone growth. This is why it is important to offer your pet reptile mealworms that have been fed ("gut-loaded") a nutritionally rich diet. Gut-loading mealworms prior to offering as prey ensures appropriate calcium levels are passed along to the reptile and allows pets to benefit from both the nutritional value of the mealworm itself as well as its nutrient-rich gut content.
Our premium veterinarian-formulated mealworm diet is specifically designed for this purpose and has been clinically proven to establish a positive calcium-to-phosphorus ratio in live mealworms when fed as directed. Both minerals are important for the health and well-being of your pet, but it is vitally important to maintain a significantly higher calcium than phosphorus intake to prevent bone issues.
FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS
Feed as the primary source of food to mealworms. Add 1 to 2 inches of Fluker's High-Calcium Mealworm Diet to your mealworm container. To ensure optimal nutrition and calcium intake, let your mealworm feed on the diet for 48 hours before offering to your pet. Replace diet once it breaks down and becomes dusty.
(NOTE: We advise against keeping sliced potatoes or other sources of moisture in mealworm container during gut-loading as the potato is primarily a low-nutrition water source that could inhibit the mealworms' appetite.)
If keeping mealworms longer than one week, you may store them in a refrigerator to prevent them from changing into beetles.
Wash hands after use. Store in a cool, dry place.
